doggies, doggies everywhere...

this is an adventure...
we decided it was time to get a new dog (or two)
and started looking just before Christmas.
we shopped shelters and decided to narrow it down
per breed
to a rescue and
choose a dog from that rescue
that best suited our family.

we chose English Springer Spaniels
because i have ALWAYS loved them.
they are bright and loving,
not too big,
and just generally met all the qualifications we had.
then i found the

from there to this...

this is Oly.
he is a 9 year old,
partially blind Springer that
no one wanted.
he is the sweetest dog on the planet.

he climbed up into the front, on the way home
and slept on the console,
switching his head from my lap
to my husband's lap
as the ride went on.
and we are in love!

isn't he handsome?
and he was sufficiently worn out,
but still protecting his bone
in this photo.
who was he protecting it from
you wonder...

this wild blur rolling around next to him.
or Stanley as we have named him.
we made it out of there with a
15 week old Springer puppy as well.
who is a wonderful,
loving, happy, joyful,
ball of fur.

he's about 22 pounds of soft goodness
who needs LOTS of training.
he has no manners!

so we now have:
2 parents,
2 children,
2 cats,
and 2 dogs
(and 1 gecko that seems to outlive them all).
and it's
